Exactly at midnight yesterday, アイスの実 (Aisu no Mi) official website updated their site, revealing that Eguchi Aimi is indeed a CG idol.
For the past few days, there have been some hot debate on whether Eguchi Aimi is a real person or CG idol, with interesting proofs from either side. It all started with the sudden announcement of Eguchi Aimi as AKB48’s 12.5th generation research student.
It was said that she was pulled out of NMB48’s auditions to join AKB48, and the producer, Akimoto Yasushi stated that she will be “the heroine of the new age”, and said that the reason he created the AKB family may have been in order to meet her.
Not only did she got the center position in the campaign for Glico's Aisu no Mi, she also graced the cover of Weekly Playboy prior to her debut in the Aisu no Mi CM. Her this sudden appearance and amount of push received caused quite a commotion amongst AKB48 fans, creating quite an amount of haters and supporters.
Many fans did a side by side comparison of Eguchi Aimi with popular AKB48 members and most of mentioned things like, Aimi having Acchan's eyes and voice, Mariko's mouth, Tomochin's nose, etc.

This is a really convincing comparison. And according to the Aisi no Mi site, it's spot on!
Then again, when there are people who are against, there are also people who supports. There were also quite a handful of images that suggested that Aimi might just be real!
Frankly speaking I was at the supporting side, believing that she is real, even though I did smell something fishy at the same time.
Revealed on Aisu no Mi official website, Eguchi Aimi was made up of Oshima Yuko's hair and body, Takahashi Minami's face shape, Maeda Atsuko's eyes, Itano Tomomi's nose, Shinoda Mariko's mouth, and the voice of 12th generation Kenkyuusei Sasaki Yukari.

On top of the revelation, Glico also added something interesting on the Aisu no Mi official website - AKB48推し面メーカー (AKB48 Oshimen Maker). With the AKB48 Oshimen Maker, one can create a perfect oshimen by mixing up the hair and face shape, eyes and eyebrows, nose, and mouth from 47 AKB members to his/her liking.
I started out with different combinations at random, then started to stick with at least two parts from Akicha but in the end... Yappari Akicha! I guess Akicha is still irreplaceable for me XD
Tried reconstructing Eguchi Aimi with Oshima Yuko's hair, Maeda Atsuko's eyes, Itano Tomomi's nose, and Shinoda Mariko's mouth. Surprise surprise! Eguchi talked!
Was directed to a page where I can download her wallpapers and icon after she made her introduction, in video. Initially I believe that she was real as she do look really real in certain ways that I don't think CG can even make it, at least outside Hollywood. I was proved wrong however. I am really impressed Japan's skill in CG now! ^^
